Ingredients

  • 3 soft dates, pitted
  • 8 almonds, soaked overnight and peeled
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant)
  • 1 small pinch ground cardamom
  • 1 small pinch saffron
  • 1/2 tsp ghee

Method

  1. Soak the almonds overnight, then slip off their skins in the morning.
  2. Pit the dates and chop them roughly.
  3. Warm the milk gently in a small pot with the cardamom and saffron.
  4. Put the dates, peeled almonds and warm spiced milk into a blender.
  5. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  6. Stir in the ghee and pour into a cup to drink warm.

Peeling the soaked almonds makes them lighter to digest. A grounding, naturally sweet drink for the colder months.
