Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 small pinch ground cardamom
  • 1 small pinch ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 5 raisins
  • 1 tsp jaggery or maple syrup, to taste

Method

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a small pot and stir in the oats.
  2. Lower the heat and add the cinnamon, cardamom and ginger.
  3. Pour in the milk and add the raisins, then simmer gently, stirring, until the oats are soft and creamy.
  4. Cook for a few minutes more if you like them very soft and easy to digest.
  5. Stir in the ghee at the end.
  6. Sweeten with a little jaggery or maple syrup and serve warm in a bowl.

Cooked soft and warm so it sits gently. Best eaten freshly made rather than reheated.
