  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 5 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 small pinch ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 5 raisins

Method

  1. Peel and chop the apples into small pieces.
  2. Put them in a small pot with the water, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
  3. Add the raisins and bring to a gentle simmer over low heat.
  4. Cover and cook for about ten to fifteen minutes until the apples are soft and spoonable.
  5. Remove the whole cloves and stir in the ghee.
  6. Spoon into a bowl and eat warm, on its own, as the first food of the day.

Eaten warm and alone first thing, ideally about half an hour before anything else. A traditional way to ease into breakfast.
